Over head video shot of Claire

Rob shooting some video photage over the top of his head. That's Claire right behind Rob.

Cruising along the South China Sea

The girls leading the way.

Fighting Rhino Beetles

These little fierce guys were being edged on by a local boy. Turn up your volume to hear them hiss.

Fried duck heads - anyone?

SE Asian glamour girls striking a pose.

Kim and Haley dipping their toes in the South China Sea.

BIG beetle attacks tourist biker...

"when can we stop?"

Snails, clams, octupuss and other slimy things...

Don't forget to double click on the pics.

Panorama of the fishing fleet.

The fishing fleet had been out all night long or longer and started unloading fish just before sun rise.

Motorcycle trailer

Loaded motorcycle trailer hauling away the days catch of fish.

Selling fresh fish

Early morning fisherman unloading...

Lot's of activity early in the AM. I was told that some of the larger boats had been out on the water for 2 wks or more. The fish were extremely small, usually a product of over fishing an area?

South China Sea

Barbecue ribs at the Baxter Mt Lodge, Cambodia.
Claire overlooking the South China Sea at sunset.

Claire, Kim and Haley resting after a long day on the bike.

Ugly dog. ie; we were bored, so we walked the town on the lookout for ugly dogs.

We spent the night at this Lodge. A little rough, but not to bad. They had Internet, fresh coffee and the beds were hard.

Ox carts

These guys had just harvested some large tree's and were bringing them home to make into furniture.

Rob & Cambodian Single Track

I couldn't pass up this sweet little single track with the bridge. Once again I was shooting video with one hand on the camera and holding onto the bike handle bars with the other.

Old School Metal Workers

Pounding metal the old school way.

Road Goats

"Out of my way goat"

Scooters, not just for ridding...

You name it, they can load it, pack it, and then ride with it.

Rob hanging out with the local boys

These guys were small in stature but big in heart and deadly with a sling shot. The guy smiling is 14yrs old, and could shoot a pop can out of the air with his home made sling-shot.
Every few hrs. we would pull over to rest, get out of the sun and refuel. Claire liked the snakes as the Cambodian tour company had Oreo's. Kim was very ill this day, probably had a combination GI problem with a little heat stroke. I think she spent the rest of the day ridding in the air-conditioned van?

Food was good, a combination of Western and Cambodian food.

The locals really know how to load a bike.

Young girl going about her business

Loved all of the boats and the people, esp. the kids having fun.

Kim trying her hand at Tuk tuk driving. Claire doesn't appear real concerned?

Genocide in a School House

Tuk Tuks and "Can I have a dolla"

This was a pretty common scenario when-ever and where-ever we would stop. These people are so poor, a American dollar goes a long way in Cambodia. This gentleman was actually selling something?, most were just looking for a little help from the rich Americans.

Tuk tuks and the Royal Palace

Self portrait of Rob in a Tuk Tuk.

All of us lined up in our Tuk tuks.
Removing our shoes before we go into the Cambodian Royal Palace.

Claire and Kim in front of the Royal Palace. It was HOT.

Cambodian music

Turn your volumne up.

Market Food and accomodations

Another one of our hotels in Cambodia. We didn't rough it when it came to accommodations.
Claire "looking at meat" in the market, so says Claire.

Fresh fish. Fresh unrefrigerated fish.

Baby barbecue chickens.

Fresh coconut milk

Bikes, birds, Elephants

This was a common site. A victim of one of the wars. He would pedal this bike with his hands.

These people came up to us and handed us all one bird. Then they made the motion of throwing the birds in the air. We did. Then they made the motion of paying them money. Did we say yet-that we saw little or no birds in the wild in Cambodia or Vietnam. They say that the birds left during the Vietnam war, returned, only to be killed off when the Bird Flu epidemic was prevalent. Poor little buggers-they looked very thirsty.
Cruising down the St. in Phenom Pen was an elephant and his handler.

Bucket O Spiders

The women who sold me the edible spider was sitting on a 5 gal. plastic bucket. I asked her where the live spiders were? she stood up.

Stone carvers

Even though the video site is black with just an arrow, go ahead and click the arrow to run. Turn your sound on.

Deep fried Spiders-yum

A local family whose father lost a limb fighting in one of the wars.
Kim Claire and Haley purchasing some local produce--some sort of nuts?

Rob tried a local delicacies? Fried Spiders. Tarantula's

There big, there creepy and they taste like the old oil that they were fried in.

Carvers and tuk tuks

Kim taking a break from her cycling routine. We all toured Phenom Pen on Tuk Tuks.
This horse took advantage of my photo op.

The stone carvers were amazing. All chisels were made from rebar.

Claire striking a pose.

Claire returning to the village after an afternoon at one of the temples. "Stay on the path"

Tour guide and restaurants

We had our own temple tour guide for the first 4 days of our bike tour. He was the only surviving member of his family, the rest were murdered by Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge
While eating a road side restaurant we decide to go looking for the toilet in the back of the restaurant-"wish we had not done that" This was actually one of the cleaner toilets, it was just the rest of the cooking and dish cleaning area that was a tad suspect.

Big pots of fermenting goodness? fish? I didn't want to know.

Clean dishes? When the local restaurants would set the table for us (tourist) they would bring the silverware out in a glass filled with water, sometimes hot, often not. I think they wanted to show us that their utensils were clean? Anywho, the food was good, and we were usually very hungry from riding all day.
