We had our own temple tour guide for the first 4 days of our bike tour. He was the only surviving member of his family, the rest were murdered by Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge
While eating a road side restaurant we decide to go looking for the toilet in the back of the restaurant-"wish we had not done that" This was actually one of the cleaner toilets, it was just the rest of the cooking and dish cleaning area that was a tad suspect.
Big pots of fermenting goodness? fish? I didn't want to know.
Clean dishes? When the local restaurants would set the table for us (tourist) they would bring the silverware out in a glass filled with water, sometimes hot, often not. I think they wanted to show us that their utensils were clean? Anywho, the food was good, and we were usually very hungry from riding all day.
